I spent some more time with the CS-80 last nite.

V (my great grand dad's organ in all it's glory!!)ĭisclaimer: The above opinions are my own and based on my own prejudice and preference and can be totally debated and debased. Wurlitzer-V (it is what it is but its a sound that I am not sure will quite work anywhere in what I do) Arturia (reps if you are reading this forum), why not throw in a Spark expansion or something instead of Analog Lab? You will get more positive vibes from your customer base!) A bit of a marketing gimick by Arturia to make it sound like you are getting more than you really are.

Analog Lab (if you have the collection I fail to see why you need the lab as it has subsets of whats already in the collection. Prophet V & VS (not sure yet, a little too early 80s and 70s for my tastes) ARP2600 V (Yep, you can really hear the old early Depeche Mode sounds on it!) CS-80 V (Really trying to dig it but no go yet) Mini V (Still fail to see all the hoopla and hype on the Moog) Matrix-12 V (I personally really like the sounds of it for what I am doing. Jupiter 8-V (Slightly on the 80s cheese factor- but still nice and warm and I think if I tweak and eq the hell out of some of the presets I can use them somehow in something that is modern sounding.) Oberheim SEM V (Very cool!! Very warm, very retro!) I just finished updating and installing and tinkering. Just didn't feel real to me in my own personal head. I don't know why after the reviews which made similar comments to my comparison with the CS series of the CS80. Alternatively I really wanted to love the JP 8, but after much trying, it has left me cold, as did the Minimoog. When I first laid hands on it I immediately used it on an intro for a piece I was working on at the time though, and the second oscillator compared to mine really did make it an improvement over my 'real' analogue baby sister (with a shed load of FX - phasers etc which I've always used with the real CS6O). especially for the kind of music you describe making and liking!I'll second this if only because I'm not into any of the others and having used the VI, it really does sound like the VCOs and filters on my CS60 (to the point I would recognise them a mile off and they're identical to the CS80) which I've had for 25 years now, but then again the thing about the big CS series is the user interface and keyboard/ribbon controller, so even that may not be what you'e after. I still love the CS80 though it is long in the tooth.
